Ruth Bernhard, one of the pre-eminent twentieth-century women photographers. Born in Germany she followed her father to NYC in 1927 and happened upon a job as a photographer’s assistant. Her own of love of the female form transgressed into photography and was exclaimed by Ansel Adams as being the finest photographer of the nude. Bernhard’s nude and still life photographs are respected internationally as the work of a master in the medium of photography.
